William A. "Bill" Patton, 80, Ft. Dodge, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2008 at the V. A. Medical Center in Wichita.
Bill was born October 19, 1927 in Hermosa Beach, CA, the son of William H. and Nelle (Caton) Patton. He grew up in Anthony and graduated from Anthony High School in 1945.
He joined the Army Air Corps in 1946 and served in the Berlin Airlift and the occupation of Japan.
He was the manager of the COOP elevator in Bloom. He later was self employed as a draftsman and engineer in Colorado.
He had a deep love of flying and received his pilot's license at the age of 18. He was a long time member of the A.O.P.A.
Bill married Harriet Davis on June 11, 1950 in Jackson County. They later divorced. Survivors include daughters, Jo Ellen Patton, Alameda, CA, Julie Elizabeth Godfrey, Topeka; son, William H. "Harry" Patton, LaGarita, CO; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, John and Harry; and a sister, Marjorie Veatch.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
