William C. "Bill" Kanaly, 77, of Topeka, formerly of Hiawatha, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016. He was born June 14, 1939, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, the son of Robert Kanaly and Myrtle (Hansen) Larabee. He was raised in South Dakota, later his family moved to Kansas. Bill graduated from Fairview High School in Fairview, Kansas in 1959.
Bill was employed by the City of Hiawatha Public Works for 36 years, first in the Street Department and later as a Foreman for the Water Department. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, of Topeka.
Bill married Lois Harvey on October 28, 1961 in Hiawatha, Kansas. She survives. He is also survived by 2 daughters, Terri Pritchett (Ron), and Penny Hartley; 5 grandchildren, Mitch Romine (Kristina), Jarad Romine (Paige), Brandon Hartley (Kim), Kelby Rosenberger and Schuyler Rosenberger; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Leola Carlson, Mary Ann Reschke, and Audree Barrett; brothers, Cloyd Kanaly, Pat Kanaly, Jerry Kanaly and Lonnie Larabee. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Orville Davis and granddaughter, Cassie Rosenberger.
Bill enjoyed fishing and camping with his family, and making knives.
A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 S.W. 6th Avenue, Topeka. Cremation will follow the ceremony. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to assist with the services may be made to Lois and family at 107 S. 8th Street, Hiawatha, KS 66434.
