William D. Macey, 74, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at his home. He was born on September 25, 1933 in Topeka, the son of Raymond T. and Doris A. Hatherly Macey. He lived most of his life in Topeka. William graduated from Topeka High School in 1951 and graduated from Columbia College in 1975 where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member and employed by the Army National Guard for 31 years before retiring as a Lt. Colonel on October 1, 1986. He was a member of Grace Bible Church. William married Barbara A. DeMotte on April 25, 1952 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Cynthia A. Ehrman of Kent, OH, Veva L. King of Shawnee, KS, Doreen D. Macey of Topeka, Lisa M. Cochran of Auburn, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one brother, Raymond D. Macey of Salina, KS and one sister, Ann Douglas of Topeka. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Grace Bible Church where Military Honors will be presented by the Kansas Army National Guard. Cremation will follow services. Private inurnment will take place in Bethel Cemetery southeast of Topeka. William will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
