William Howard Eicholtz

August 16, 1943 — July 6, 2018

William Howard "Bill" Eicholtz, 74, of Topeka, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018.

He was born August 16, 1943, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of George H. and Virginia (Trusdale) Eicholtz. He was a 1961 graduate of Topeka High School and attended Kansas State University. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War.

Bill was employed by the KP&L later Westar Energy for 39 years, retiring in 2002.

He was a member of Golden Rule Lodge No. 90, AF&AM, Arab Shrine (where he served on the Divan and was to become the 2013 Potentate but was unable due to his illness) and Capital Post No. 1 of American Legion, all of Topeka.

Bill married Nancy Doll on November 7, 1971 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include five children, James (Wanda) Sparks, Valley Center, KS, Victoria Smith, Sabetha, KS, Sandra (Richard) Mann, Wichita, KS, Kristina (Kevin) Pearce, Lawrence, KS, Gretchen (Kirk) Muskina, Memphis, TN; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jon (Barbara Eden) Eicholtz, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Debora Sparks in 1993; a son, Timothy Sparks in 2016; and a brother, Jim Eicholtz in 1993.

Cremation is planned. The family will receive friends at 6:00 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2018 at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, where a memorial ceremony will be at 7:00 p.m.
