William Irvin "Bill" Armstrong, 82, of Berryton, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 2, 2012. He was born on July 24, 1930 in Americus, Kansas to William N. and Eva Mae Drummond Armstrong.
Bill married the love of his life, Geneva Ann Frakes, on November 9, 1951, then served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean conflict.
After serving his country, Bill and Geneva had two daughters, Jennifer Ann Morgan, Topeka and Jancy Aileen Morgan Dunn (Tom), Berryton. He is survived by his wife, daughters and three grandchildren - Jason Morgan of Olathe, Ashley Morgan Garcia (Robert) of Lawrence, Morgan Morgan of Virginia, in addition to three great-grandchildren, children of Ashley: Raiden, Ruby and Reiko, a sister, Margaret Langston, Tennessee, sister-in-law, Myrna Joy Rise, Auburn and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Lloyd Armstrong, Elvin Armstrong, Robert Armstrong, Forest McKeage and Marvin McKeage and one sister, Elizabeth Means.
Bill led a very rich life, having many talents and interests. He enjoyed a long career with AT&T/SWBT, as the top Yellow Pages Salesman for many years, before moving up to management, amassing nearly 35 years in perfect attendance.
His favorite passions were flying his Cherokee 9332W, riding his Harley-Davidson Fat Boy, tending his Scottish Highland Cattle and building things, including his home. He was a member of H.O.G. and AOPA, AHCA and served on the Board of Directors for the American Highland Cattle Association.
The family would like to thank all of Bill's caretakers at Brookside Manor in Overbrook for the love and support that they provided him and his family.
Private family graveside services and burial will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery southeast of Topeka. Bill will lie in state from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the organization of the donor's choice.
