William Kenneth "Bill" Burgoon, 56, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015. He was born May 13, 1958, in Anchorage, Alaska, the son of Col. (Ret.) Kenneth and Jacqueline (Hinman) Burgoon.
Bill was a 1976 graduate of Junction City High School and received his bachelor's degree in 1980 from Emporia State University. He worked as a travel consultant for 31 years.
While in college, Bill served in the US Army Reserve. He became a commissioned officer in 1980 and was honorably discharged as a Captain in October of 1995.
On August 2, 1980, in Neodesha, Kansas, he married Sue Ellen Gudde. She survives. Other survivors include sons, Zachary Travis Burgoon and Nicholas Tyler Burgoon; parents, Kenneth and Jacqueline Burgoon; and sister, LesLee Blount.
Bill was cremated at his request. Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, Kansas 66610, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Neodesha Cemetery in Neodesha, Kansas at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care.
