William Bryan Kent, 86 of Topeka, passed away November 5, 2016. He was born February 16, 1930 at Ballard, Arkansas to Clyde Kent and Drucy May (Couch) Kent. He graduated from Violet Hill High School and entered the US Air Force. During his 20 year career in the Air Force, he served in the Korean War and various other duty stations.
He married Mary Frances Curran on November 27, 1954 at Topeka while stationed at Forbes Field. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2004. After Mary's death, Bill moved back to Arkansas. On March 1, 2005 he married Cleta Southard. She survives.
After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber and the Kansas Department of Corrections. He enjoyed volunteering for Catholic Social Services Friendly Visitor's program. He was involved in his church in Lyndon while he lived in Kansas and the Highland Assembly of God when he lived in Arkansas. He was an avid outdoorsman. He raised and trained hunting dogs and loved to fish and hunt. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Bill is also survived by his children: Marla (Brad) Rhoden of Topeka, Bryan Kent of Osage City, KS, Brenda (Rich) Nash of Topeka and Lisa (Frank) Bueltel of Topeka; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Kent and his sister Claytie May Kent.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Mt. Hope Cemetery and Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with visitation being held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Big Springs, Kansas.
