William E. "Daddy Chris" McChristion, 88, of Topeka, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He was born November 11, 1936 in Winona, Mississippi, the son of Ethel McChristion Vaughn.
William attended Winona Public Schools. He was an Air Force Veteran. William was employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 33 years before retiring. He was a member of the USW Local 307.
William loved spending his time doing anything that didn’t involve sitting in the house; tending to his yard, gardening, fishing, going hunting with his bird dogs. He loved sitting in the garage or yard during summer days. He loved being surrounded by the company of family and friends. William is known for his many lessons and having a story for all of life’s adventures
William married Ruby J. Beaver on July 24, 1961 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Bruce Scott of Topeka, Christy (Everett) Bruner of Topeka, Keith McChristion of LaVonia, Michigan, Kelvin McChristion of Topeka, Eric McChristion of Kansas City, Missouri, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, his sister, Yvonne (Calvin) Cunning of Clinton, Mississippi and a host of extended family and friends.
William was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Naketa "Nicky" (Grandpa's Sweetie) McChristion on February 21, 2021, his grandson, Kenneth "Leray" Vetaw on August 19, 2017 and his great-granddaughter, SeAsia Bruner on September 29, 2014.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2025 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. William will lie in state from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
