William J. Nolting

William J. "Bill" Nolting, 86, of Berryton, died Sunday morning, Nov. 29, 2020, at Midland Hospice House. He was born Dec. 6, 1933, in Nortonville to Herman and Martha (Wehking) Nolting.
Bill graduated from Atchison County Community High School at Effingham in 1951. He farmed with his family for a time after high school and joined the U.S. Army in 1954, serving until 1955. During his service he had been stationed in Germany.
After the Army, Bill attended Finlay Engineering College in Kansas City, Missouri, graduating in 1958.
He worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation in Topeka for 36 years as a civil engineer.
Bill married Shirley Hall on May 17, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri. She survives of the home. Bill and Shirley have been faithful members of St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka.
Other survivors include two children, Brenda Cervantes of Topeka and Ray (Lori) Nolting of Parsons; four grandchildren, Mallory (Dustin) Kite, Keaton (Olivia) Nolting, Tanner Nolting, all of Parsons, and Brianna Cervantes (Damien Cooper) of Topeka; two great-grandchildren, Krimzon Cooper and Miles Nolting; and a brother, J.R. (Kathe) Nolting of Bonner Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 11 brothers and sisters, Esther, Ottillia, Dorothy, MaryEllen, Mildred, Verna, Harold, Ralph, Bud, Lindell and Robert.
A private memorial service is planned at St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka. Following Bill's wishes, he was cremated.
