William "Bill" Thomas Hoss was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on March 27, 1924 and passed away at his home on March 28, 2010. He served in the Army during WWII in the Army Medical Corps. Bill was employed by Westar (KP&L) Energy at the Tecumseh power plant for 39 years. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved playing baseball and softball with his sons and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one great-child and leaves behind Thelma, his wife of 64 years and five children; Billy (Nancy) Hoss of Frankfort, Joan (George) Waters of Scranton, Duane (Sharon) Hoss of Topeka, Joyce (Gary) Brown of Lawrence, Larry (Christa) Hoss of Topeka, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Masonic services will also be provided by Golden Rule Lodge No., 90 AF&AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Valleybrook Cemetery, Overbrook, where military honors will be presented by the Kansas National Guard Military Funeral Honors and Philip Billard Post No. 1650, V.F.W. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to, Hospice Care of Kansas, 2900 SW Oakley Ave., Topeka, KS 66614.
