William E. Watts

William E. "Bill" Watts, 80, of Topeka, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023.

He was born November 25, 1942 in Missouri, the son of Howard E. and Imogene (Ebersole) Watts. He was a graduate of Sac City High School, Sac City, Iowa and received his BS from Iowa State University.

Bill was a Civil Engineer for the State of Kansas for 38 years, retiring in 2005.

He later served as an Associate Pastor for Emmanuel Baptist Church where he established their first Christian Day Care. He served at various Topeka nursing homes, including McCrites. He was an active member, Sunday School Teacher and Lay Pastor at Covenant Baptist Church, Topeka.

Bill was an active member and Past President of the Topeka chapter of the Cat Fanciers' Association where he was dedicated in raising Persian cats. His claim to fame, was Excalibur who achieved the Top Tabby Persian International Award in Show.

Bill married Freda M. (Webb) Richardson on August 30, 1980 in Topeka. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include two sons, Timothy (Roxanne) Watts, Colby, KS and Michael (Joye) Richardson of Topeka; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Edmond and Daniel Richardson.

Bill was the best husband, father, and grandfather. He was generous. a great teacher, and enjoyed sharing his love of God with people.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 -8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Covenant Baptist Church, 5440 SW 37th St, Topeka, KS 66614. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka.
