Wilma J. (Rice) Whiteside Fisher, 73, Topeka, passed away Feb. 2, 2012 at Midland Hospice House. She was born in Quenemo, Kansas on Sept. 4, 1938 to Fleming G. and Goldie L. (Sutton) Rice. Wilma was raised in the Melvern community and graduated from Melvern High School.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald L. Whiteside in 1975, two brothers, Raymond Rice and Dean Rice and her parents.
Wilma retired in 1994 from Dillons after 24 years of service. She volunteered for many organizations including Stormont Vail Hospital, Meals on Wheels and Lowman United Methodist Church.
She is survived by husband Darrell E. Fisher, son David (Jennifer) Whiteside, daughter Sheri Whiteside (Michael) Kelton, three sisters, Wanda Miller, Phyllis (George) Rhode and Ruth (Frank) Felitsky, two brothers, Donald (June) Rice and Orville (Lois) Rice, four grandchildren, J.D., Sarah, Amanda and Emily Whiteside, two step daughters, Judy (Dale) Marcell and Janet Jones, eight step grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside inurnment service will be held at Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Kansas, on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 10:00AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Lowman United Methodist Church, 4000 SW Drury Lane, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
