Wilma J. Payne, 69, of Berryton, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022. She was born August 22, 1952 in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of Albert and Caroline (Kober) Zimmer.
Wilma graduated from Marian High School in Hays, Kansas in 1970 and earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree from Fort Hays Kansas State College in 1974. Wilma was employed as a Computer Programmer for the Kansas Department of Revenue for 15 years before retiring in 2018. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.
Wilma married John A. Payne on May 23, 1981 in Hays. He survives. Other survivors include children, Brian (Michelle) Payne of Terre Haute, Indiana, Amy (Cody) Bird of Wellington, Colorado, five grandchildren, Aaron, Charlie, Benjamin, Julia and Zoe and her sister, Marian Spittles of Hays.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Eugene, Marvin and Gerald.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2022 at St. Matthew Catholic Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606 or the National Processing Center - Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
