Winifred "Winnie" Smith, 91, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. She was born July 16, 1924 in Willard, KS, the daughter of Arthur P. and Mary Ethel Miller Rogers.
Winnie was a long time member of Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW and she was very involved in square dancing with her husband.
Winnie married Donald D. "Don" Smith in Dover, KS, a union of over 61 years. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2006. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Debra Smith.
Survivors include their children, Linda (Larry) Hollis of Wichita, Robert (Darlene) Smith and Mark Smith, both of Topeka and grandchildren, Chris Hollis, Amy Angotti, Brooke Howell and Brad Smith, four great-grandchildren, Parker Howell, Evan Hollis, Brecken Howell, and Walker Howell.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Dover Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church, 6020 SE 44th St., Tecumseh, KS 66542 or to Heartland Hospice, 2231 SW Wanamaker Rd., Ste. 202, Topeka, KS 66614.
