Winnie Joe "Jo" Ward, 82, Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008 at a local hospital.
Jo was born March 31, 1926 in Knoxville, TN, the daughter of Joe and Winnie (Corum) Wolfe. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1944.
She was employed by JC Penny for 20 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church.
Jo married Floyd Ward on June 2, 1945 in Greenville, SC. He survives. Other survivors include son, Gerald Ward, Topeka; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and former daughter-in-laws, Anne Ward, Topeka and Vivian McDuffie, Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by a son, Hugh Ward.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
