Y. Marcene George

Y. Marcene George, 74, of Topeka, passed away Monday, September 6, 2010 at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center. She was born August 28, 1936, in Rulo, NE, the daughter of Henry and Daisy Hodge Kuck. She graduated from Everest High School in 1954.

Marcene married C. Vernon George on November 11, 1956 in Hiawatha. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2003. She loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities. She was a member of West Side Christian Church, where she was involved in the CWF and served on the committee for licensure.

Survivors include her three children, Julie and husband, Dale Baldwin of DeSoto; Herb George and wife, Tammie of Tonganoxie, Charley George and wife, Penny of Denison; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and her siblings, Benton Kuck, Council Bluff, IA, Norma June Laha of Wakefield and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Henry J. Kuck, and sister, Clarlyn Kuck.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at West Side Christian Church. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Marcene will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
