Yancy Ja’Quan Tremel Whitehead, 22, of Topeka, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 8, 2025. He was born January 21, 2003 in Topeka, the son of Zack Johnson and Tricia M. Whitehead.

Yancy attended Topeka Public Schools. He was Baptized at True Light Ministries in 2019. He was employed by Mars Chocolate in Topeka. He was very active in the community. Yancy enjoyed going to the casinos, music, gym and his family and friends. He often helped with neighborhood cleanups, community gardens, and various neighborhood improvement association programs. As a youth, he also participated in the K through 12th grade College Preparation program, offered by the Neighborhood Academic and Athletic Association. Yancy also participated in intergenerational programs where he helped clean up and paint senior citizen homes. He also played football for the Wolverines and the Crush Youth Sports programs and basketball teams, the Topeka Capitals and KC United.

Survivors include his parents, Zack Johnson of Topeka, Tricia M. Whitehead of Topeka, his paternal grandmother, Cynthia (Sam) Johnson Robinson of Topeka, siblings, Angela Whitehead of Topeka, Peyton Johnson of Boston, Massachusetts, Ah’Miair Webber-Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri, Aizaiah Johnson of Kansas City, Kansas, Jahiem Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Terahn Simms, Sr. of Topeka, Ah’Niya Johnson of Topeka, Savy Ward of Topeka, Tatum Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Zaleah Johnson of Topeka, and Amanda Johnson of Columbia, Missouri and a host of extended family and friends.

Yancy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eddie and Bessie Whitehead, his paternal grandfather, Booker Johnson, Sr., his brother, Tayvion Cooper, his uncle, Tremel L. Whitehead and one cousin, Christopher J. McMillon.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Private services will be held and burial will take place in Topeka Cemetery at a later date.
