Zona Johnson

Zona W. Johnson, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008. She was 88.

Zona was born October 24, 1919, at Soldier, KS, the only child of George E. and Inez M. (Jones) Booth.

Zona attended schools in and around Soldier, graduating from Soldier High School.

She married her high school sweetheart, William E. Johnson in Soldier shortly thereafter. They raised two sons, Duane W. and Evan L. Johnson. Bill preceded her in death in 1970.

Zona spent most of her life in Topeka. In her early years, Zona worked in production for Hallmark Cards and also as a housekeeper for Security Benefit Association. Later, she continued Bill's business as a territory sales rep for Logan Knitting Mills of Logan, UT; Herbert Custom Tailoring and Packard Shirt Company both of Cincinnati, OH--offering individually tailored clothing to clients in five Midwestern states. After retiring from the road, Zona became a successful sales associate for Tupperware in the Topeka area.

Zona was creative, artistic, enjoyed music and travel, loved her family and friends, and was devout in her faith.

She is survived by her two sons and their families: Duane and Sherri Johnson of Sacramento, CA, and their three boys, David and Christopher of the home, and Matthew of Elk Grove, CA; Evan and Polly Johnson of Topeka and their daughter, Lindsay and two sons, Blake and Nick, of the home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, April 14, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 37th and Wanamaker followed by Committal Services at Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St.. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, April 13 at the funeral home.
