Mary Beth Brown Benson, 91, of Topeka, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 15, 2023. She was born January 18, 1932 in Topeka, the daughter of Oliver and Bertha Brown.
Mary graduated from Topeka High School. She had resided in Kansas City, Missouri for several years prior to returning to Topeka. She was employed by Topeka State Hospital for 28 years and the Menninger Foundation for 15 years.
Mary married Victor Earl Benson, Sr. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2013. She was also preceded in death by one son, Gary Oliver Benson, Sr. in 2008.
Survivors include three children, Lennie Victoria Benson of Topeka, Allen Scott Benson of Topeka, Victor Earl Benson, Jr. of San Diego, California, four grandchildren; Michael D. Benson, Sr. of Topeka, Victor Earl Benson III of Arlington, Texas, Gary Oliver Benson, Jr. of San Diego, California, Shontina Benson of Cincinnati, Ohio, sixteen grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Mary loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved to travel. She was very much loved and will be greatly missed.
As per Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place. Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 23, 2023 at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
