Judy Marie Gudenkauf, 67, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023, surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born August 21, 1955, in Seneca, Kansas, the daughter of Edmund August “Wassie” and Alda Alvina (Block) Wassenberg. She was a 1973 graduate of Nemaha Valley High School.

Judy was employed by Payless Shoes Corporate Office for 30 years, retiring in 2022.

She attended Christ the King Catholic Church, of Topeka.

Survivors include two sons, Ian (Marci) Gudenkauf and Aaron Gudenkauf both of Topeka; two sisters, Donna (Dana) Severy of Bigfork, MT and Patti (Jim) Allen of Topeka; two brothers, Robert (Sue) Wassenberg of Topeka and Roger (Nancy) Wassenberg of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Grayson Gudenkauf and Sawyer Gudenkauf; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Marilyn Campbell.

Judy loved her family, especially her grandchildren and their activities. She was an avid golfer, who enjoyed traveling, caring for her flowers and her yard and spending time with family and friends when she wasn’t working.

Honoring her request, cremation is planned. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2023 at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS.

A Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th St., Topeka, KS 66614.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to TARC, 2701 SW Randolph Ave, Topeka, KS 66611.
