Deborah Kay McCaskill, 69, of Eskridge, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023.

She was born December 7, 1953, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph Stewart and Irene (Galutia) Stewart. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1971 and received a bachelor’s degree from KU and a master’s degree from KU in public administration.

Deborah was employed by the State of Kansas for many years, working for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, the Kansas Department of Commerce and the Kansas Department of Transportation, retiring in 2009.

Deborah married George L. McCaskill in 1984 in Topeka. He survives, along with her brother Denny Stewart (Margaret). She was preceded in death by her parents.

Deborah enjoyed gardening, scuba diving, and taking care of the dogs and cats.

There will be a private gathering of friends and family at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society 5720 SW 21st Street, Topeka, KS 66604-3720.
