Rozella “Jean” Rose, 78, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 7, 1945, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Carroll H. and Rozella J. (Dearinger) Whiteford. She was a graduate of Wellsville High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Baker University.

Jean was employed by Bartlett & West in Topeka for many years and later worked for the Great Overland Station in Topeka, until retiring.

Jean married Gerald Wayne "G.W." Rose on June 15, 1974 in Wellsville, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2021. Survivors include sons, Brent Rose and his wife Lucy, and Kale Rose and his wife Jamie, and grandsons, Arik Rose, and Akston Rose.

She was preceded in death by her husband G.W. Rose, her parents, her brothers Ivan Floyd, Carroll Wayne, James David, Dale Earnest, and her sister Mary Jeanetta Whiteford.

Jean loved spending time with her family, attending her grandkids activities, and her dogs. She enjoyed her morning cup of coffee outside, dancing, dining out, Sunday breakfasts with friends, gardening, traveling, watching auto racing, and was a huge KU basketball fan.

Honoring her request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held Saturday August 19, 2023 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Lynn Creek Cemetery, Berryton, KS.
