In Memory Of
Gerald E. "Jerry" Howarth
1938 - 2023

Gerald "Jerry" Howarth was born to Ivyl and Marie Howarth on July 12, 1938 in Perry, Iowa. His earthly sojourn ended Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. As God is the God of the living, not the dead, Jerry now is celebrating his eternal life with departed family members, including his parents, two sisters, a brother and two brothers in law, friends, and most of all his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Jerry graduated from Perry High School in Perry, Iowa in 1956 and served in the Iowa National Guard. Jerry worked at various occupations including a packing house laborer, truck driver, feed salesman as well as various sales positions. His life's true calling was being a pastor. Preaching the blessed gospel of Jesus Christ was Jerry's greatest joy in life. He was always prepared to preach one more message at a moment's notice. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Theology from Dothan Baptist Bible College in Dothan, Alabama in 1992.

He served as a pastor for various congregations for over 35 years before retiring.

Jerry married Peggy Wright on October 2, 1959 in Bellvue, Nebraska. She survives.

God graciously entrusted to them 4 wonderful children whom he loves more than words can describe. Kelly Howarth of Westminster, Colorado, Cyndee J. (Craig) Whitford of Tecumseh, Scott (Mary) Howarth of Madison, Ohio and Kristyn Howarth of Littleton, Colorado. God's blessings also include fifteen grandchildren, twin babies Keri and Kris who preceded him in death, Joshua, Jenni (Johannes), Benjamin (Joy, who preceded him in death), Heather, Matthew, Jonathan, Staci, Nathan, Justin (Blanca), Hannah (Austin), Mattie (Alex), Noah and Bradley, and ten great-grandchildren, Elias, TT, Prime, Annika, Aidan, Benji, Lloyd, Paris, Kaitlyn and Caden. Also blessing his life, Jerry is survived by his sister Melba Wright of Racine, Wisconsin and sister in law Pat Howarth of Hawkins, Texas.

A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2023 at Shawnee Heights Baptist Church in Topeka. It will be live streamed at the time of service. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgL1gbrm4Tk
