Austin Mitchel Porter, 37, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023.
He was born October 30, 1985, in Meade, Kansas the son of Kenneth Mitchel and Jeanie K Porter. He graduated from Meade High School in 2004 and earned a bachelors degree from Oklahoma State University in 2008 with a double major in communication and journalism.
Austin was employed at Thrivent as a financial adviser.
Austin married Kim Lanum on October 11, 2013 in Miami, Oklahoma she survives along with his daughter Sylvi Katherine Blair; his parents, Kenneth and Jeanie of Meade; and his sisters, Ashley Porter of Meade and Alissa Waller (KA) of Geronimo, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mitch & Elsie Porter and Ann C. Klotz and his beloved Dog Moby.
Austin was entirely devoted to his family and especially his wife and daughter. He loved playing guitar, woodworking, building things with his hands, writing and poetry, drafting and design, reading, and spending time with Sylvi and his dogs. It has often been said by friends that he had the biggest heart of anyone we knew.
Austin loved nature and was a free spirit that liked thinking of the bigger picture. He wanted us all to remember the feeling of the breeze on your face with the sun feeding the green earth.
Services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Meade Kansas at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 19th. Interment will be at Graceland cemetery in Meade at a later date.
