Christopher L. “Chris” Andersen, 38, of Silverthorne, Colorado, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023. He was born September 3, 1984 in Wheatridge, Colorado, the son of Scott and Schelly (Howrey) Andersen.

Chris attended Summit High School in Breckenridge, Colorado. He served in the US Army from 2003 - 2015 where he obtained the rank of Sergeant First Class before being medically discharged. Chris had been stationed in Hawaii, North Carolina, Colorado and Italy. He served three tours, one being in Iraq and two in Afghanistan.

Chris married Emily Howell on August 7, 2010 in Lawrence, Kansas. They later divorced. To this union was born one daughter, Alyssa N. Andersen of Topeka. Also surviving are, one step-daughter, Bethany H. Prosser of Topeka, his parents, Scott and Schelly Andersen of Silverthorne, Colorado, his brother, Jesse Andersen of Colorado and his maternal grandmother, Peggy Larson of Arizona.

Chris was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Andersen in November 2022.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Pleasant Hill cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Kansas Army National Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
