Rickie Diane Slechta, 78, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on September 12, 2023, in Topeka. She was born on July 21, 1945, and educated in Ellsworth, Kansas. Rickie was a faithful woman who loved the Lord and her family.

Rickie’s career path began at an early age with jobs in journalism, the printing industry, and food service. She leveraged these experiences to become a successful entrepreneur. She owned her own restaurant and retail businesses, leaving a lasting impact on the local economy. Rickie especially appreciated her regular customers that became friends.

Outside of her professional life, Rickie had a passion for various hobbies. She enjoyed studying the bible, gardening, sewing, creative arts, collecting unique artifacts, and neighborhood beautification. Her unwavering faith, green thumb and artistic talents sparked joy in those around her.

Rickie will be deeply missed by her surviving family members. She is survived by her children, Stephanie Anton of Topeka, Jenee (Christian) Velasquez of Midland, Michigan, Jon (Jaclyn) Urbanek of Essexville, Michigan, and Toby Urbanek of Topeka. She was a loving grandmother to Dr. Bailey (Dr. Tyler) Ledy, Link (Alex) Urbanek, Deighton Urbanek, Veronica Anton, Isabel Velasquez, and Easton Urbanek. Rickie is also survived by her sisters, Patricia (Daniel) Schafer and Carol Thach, her sister-in-law, Susan Slechta, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, DJ Slechta, as well as her parents, Evelyn and Richard Slechta.

A private celebration of Rickie's life will be held at a later date to honor her memory. Dove Southeast Chapel, located at 2843 SE Minnesota Avenue, Topeka, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Rickie Slechta will forever be remembered for her love for the Lord, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedication to her family. May she rest in peace.
