In Memory Of
Gary Howard Pflaum
1937 - 2023

Gary H. Pflaum passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023. He was born June 17, 1937 to Ruth (Long) and Jacob Pflaum in Reserve, Kansas. He married the love of his life Marilyn Davidson on June 20, 1958. Marilyn preceded Gary in death on January 18, 2022.

Surviving Gary are daughter Kathy Pflaum of Topeka, KS; and sons Kevin Pflaum (Donna) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Michael Pflaum.

Gary played football for Highland College, receiving an Associates in Arts and got his Bachelor of Science in Education from Peru State College. He taught school in Morrill, Kansas until he moved the family in 1965 to Topeka, Kansas. Gary worked and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 30 years. He was part of the Goodyear Top 10 program.

Gary loved to garden and grow beautiful flowers. He spent hours looking for the right vegetable and flower varieties. Every year there were plenty of vegetables during the growing season for the family to eat. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, doing remodel jobs on the family homes with his Father-in-Law and spending time outdoors.

No immediate services are planned. In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered later.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st Street, Topeka, KS 66604-3720.

Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel is assisting the family.
