Marlys C. Horn, 83, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023 at a Topeka care facility. She was born April 14, 1940 in Moline, Kansas, the daughter of Clare and Eva L. (Lancett) Horn.

Marlys graduated from Moline High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Pittsburg State University. She was employed as a Social Worker for the Kansas Department of Corrections for many years before retiring.

Survivors include nieces, Mary (Kevin) Wilson of Lawrence, Kansas, Amy (Rick) Horn of Flagstaff, Arizona, Lois Book of Florida, her great-nieces, Crystal, Anna, Becky and her two great-nephews, Mike and James Robert.

Marlys was preceded in death by her sisters, Lee Horn, June Book and her brother, Bill Horn.

A private Celebration of Marlys's Life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Lawrence Humane Society, 1805 E. 19th St., Lawrence, Kansas 66046.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
