Jean Marlene Wiedmann, 89, of Topeka, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023.

She was born April 1, 1934, in Elmira, New York, the daughter of Elroy and Dorothy (Sharp) Henry. She received a Diploma in Nursing from Highland Nursing College in Rochester, New York.

Jean served as registered nurse for more than forty years, retiring from St. Francis Hospital after 27 years of service.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, of Topeka.

Survivors include daughters, Dodie Wellshear (Dennis Jones), Cheryle Hill (Jim), and Cassandra Williams; grandchildren, Joshua, Amy, Krystle, Kyle, Kent, Cody, and Harleigh; great-grandchildren, Caleigh, Kaidence, Tanner, William, Kaiel, Kylin, Kyler, Gunner, Carson, Blakleigh, Paxton, Treytin, Taylor, and Keenan, and was anticipating her first great great-grandchild in March 2024; brothers, Robert Henry and Richard Henry. She is also survived by special friends, Joe Kisner, Karen Sund and Alice Knatt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Harlan Benge; sisters, Marge and Alice; and brothers, Jack and Don.

Jean's primary love was being a mother and grandmother, and she gave all she had to those she loved. She especially enjoyed dancing, gardening (particularly roses), reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Honoring her wishes, cremation is planned. A Celebration of Life will be held and livestreamed at 1:00 pm, November 11, 2023, at Mount Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St, Topeka, KS 66604. Inurnment will follow the ceremony.
