Lawrence Everett "Larry" Gerstner
1949 - 2023

Lawrence “Larry” Everett Gerstner, 74, of Topeka, passed away Friday, November 10th, 2023, at Midland Care Hospice House.

He was born October 6th, 1949, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the son of Lawrence and Joan (Akers) Gerstner. Both of his parents, and stepmother, Martha (Shephard) Gerstner, preceded him in death.

Larry graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1968. In the years after school he worked for Goodyear, Prudential, Kerr Magee Gas Station, and delivered papers for the Topeka Capital Journal. He found his niche being self-employed as a delivery driver and janitor.

Larry married Marylyn Helen Meyer on March 1st, 2008 in Topeka, KS. She preceded him in death on March 4th, 2022.

Survivors include his son, Matthew Gerstner (Beth) of Topeka; his granddaughter, Lauren; five sisters: Debbie Andriessen (Roel) of Sioux City, Iowa; Brenda Schweer (Ron) of Lawrence Kansas; Donna Parker of Wesley Chapel, Florida; Corky Timberlake (Brian) of Olathe, Kansas; Jackie Schmidt (Glen) of Emporia, Kansas. He is also survived by three nephews and five nieces.

Larry enjoyed dining out, watching movies, and fishing with family at his pond. He was a history buff and an avid reader. His family was blessed with his artistic talent as he created many oil paintings over the years. He was very proud of his granddaughter and shared that freely. He loved to spend time with her, even if it was just sitting quietly together.

Larry chose to be cremated. A private viewing for immediate family will be held at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023. Per Larry’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to Midland Care Hospice House, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
