Lyla Jean McDysan, 88, of Berryton, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

She was born July 20, 1935, in Salina, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph and Catherine (Phillips) Eggleston. She graduated from Neosha High School in 1953 and Clark School of Business.

Lyla was employed by Southwestern Bell for one year.

Mrs. McDysan was a member of the Berryton United Methodist Church.

Lyla married Lawrence McDysan on June 2, 1957 in LeRoy, Kansas. They were married for 66 years. He survives, along with her children Leland McDysan (Laura) of Berryton, daughter Gayle Faulbaum (Ron) of Chesterfield, MO, Danny McDysan of Berryton and Linda Bickford (Barry) of North Platte, NE; grandchildren Dustin McDysan, Aaron McDysan, Melissa Jamieson (Ted), Sara Faulbaum, Justin McDysan, Jessica McDysan, Jenny McDysan, Joshua Bickford (Stephanie) and Haley Bickford; great-grandchildren Jack Jamieson, Joseph Jamieson, Adelaide Jamieson, Tayton McDysan, Taizlynn McDysan, Zander McDysan, Laikynn McDysan, and Cooper Bickford. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Lyla enjoyed raising her four children and being with her nine grandchildren. Lyla always had a good memory and always remembered everyone’s birthday. She was especially proud of her eight great-grandchildren. The ninth great-grandchild, Cooper’s sister, will arrive in February.

Lyla was cremated. There will be a memorial service at the Berryton United Methodist Church at 7010 SE Berryton Road on Saturday, December 9th from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, December 9th at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Kansas Parkinson’s Association, PO Box 67342, Topeka, KS 66667-0342.
