Nancy Kaleialoha (Hall) Petty, 89, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

She was born on April 19, 1934, in North Kohala, Hawai’i, the daughter of Joseph Malulu and Rebecca Mileka (Liana) Hall. She was a graduate of St. Francis School in Honolulu, HI, Kansas State Teachers College Pittsburg, KS and received a Master's Degree in Education from Washburn University in Topeka, KS.

Nancy served in the U.S. Air Force at the School of Aviation Medicine, in San Antonio, TX where she met and married her husband, Col. Victor R. Petty, Jr. on October 23, 1954. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Tricia Edwards, her parents and three siblings, Joseph M. Hall, Jr, Mary Hall and Irene Keliikipi.

Nancy was employed by Public School Districts in Piper, KS, Topeka, KS and Kansas City, MO. She was also an adjunct professor at Washburn University.

Survivors include her brother, Ronald N. Hall of Kailua-Kona, HI, her sister, Dorothy Maile Glenn of La Crosse, WI, children, Victor R. "Russ" (Leslie) Petty, III of Topeka, KS, Liana (Jim) Glanville of Gainesville, FL, Dan Edwards of Jacksonville, FL, David (Kathy) Petty of Topeka, KS, Brenda Petty and John Petty both of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren, Victor R. “Rory” (Beth) Petty, IV of Brooklyn, NY, Mileka Glanville of Gainesville, FL, Jimmy (Sarah) Glanville of Lancaster, PA, Taylor (Shawnalee) Petty of Roeland Park, KS, Garrett ( Katie ) Petty of Kansas City, MO, Christian (Kendra) Edwards of Indianapolis, IN, Danielle (Geoff) DeLuca of St. Johns, FL, Preston Edwards of Jacksonville, FL, Carter Petty (Hannah Schiffman) of Lawrence, KS, Tre Davis of Atlanta, GA, Victoria Edwards of Irvington, NY, Claire Petty of Mission, KS, Anela Davis of Salt Lake City, UT, Kiana Davis of Jacksonville, FL, and great-grandchildren, Malia Glanville, Olivia Petty, Peyton DeLuca, Leila Glanville, Anna Petty, Sadie Edwards, Emerson Petty, Beau DeLuca, Kaleo Glanville, Elliott Petty, Grant Petty and Crosby Edwards.

Nancy was a carefree spirit, avid learner, voracious reader and sweet-wine connoisseur. She maintained the Hawaiian traditions of “talk story” and hula with her Ohana. She loved life and was a source of joy and happiness. Whenever a gentle rain falls, her Ohana will fondly remember Nancy, barefoot and without an umbrella, splashing in the puddles with her grandchildren.

Honoring her request, cremation has occurred. A private family graveside service and Rite of Committal will be held at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family.
