Curtis Jay Moats, 58, of Topeka, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 9, 2023.

He was born April 11, 1965, in Norfolk, Nebraska, the son of Myron Louis and Nylotis Gail (Overhue) Moats. He was a 1983 graduate of Norfolk High School and received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Wayne State University, Wayne, NE.

Curtis was employed by the Altria Sales and Distribution Group for 30 years, retiring in 2021.

Curtis married Sharon Kay Krueger on September 19, 1992 in Norfolk, NE. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include two sons, Kyle Michael Moats of Kansas City, MO and Zackary Jay Moats of Overland Park, KS; four siblings, Michael (Cindy) Moats of York, NE, Patrick Moats of Columbus, NE, Nyla (Neil) Heese of Randolph, NE and Douglas Moats of Norfolk, NE, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Curtis loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed garage sales, cooking, finance, shopping and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker, Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan.

Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A celebration of his life ceremony will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 18, 2023 with a reception to follow at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the "Curtis J Moats Memorial Fund" which will solely be used to fund charitable endeavors and organizations that were dear to Curtis' heart. Contributions can be sent via EFT/ACH using the account information below:
