Ella A Carl, 105, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023.
She was born December 13, 1918, in Humboldt, Kansas, the daughter of (Lawrence) Ernest and Flora Jane (Adams) Truster.
Ella was employed as a PBX operator until after World War 2 then worked as a switchboard operator, a motel manager in several states and with Alzheimer's patients through in-home care until she was 88 years old.
Ella married Paul Gilmore on June 2, 1942 in Canton, Ohio; he preceded her in death. She then married Vern Carl on August 24, 1952 in Carroll County, Arkansas; he preceded her in death on May 3, 2002. Survivors include her great-niece, Kristie A Caldwell (Jim) of Topeka and great-nephew Rob Warnock (Angela) of Sisters, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Paul Gilmore and Vern Carl; siblings Bessie Clover, Florence Alberta (Dannelley) Chase, Martha Payne and Ernest Truster; and niece, Beverley A. (Dannelley) Powell (Jim) of Lawton, Oklahoma.
Ella enjoyed being outside, walking and caring for flowers.
Interment will be at Dewitt Cemetery in Humboldt, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
