Juanita P. "Nita" Turvey
1934 - 2024
Nita grew up as a farm girl learning the values of hard work, doing things right, being dependable, honest and persevering through difficult times. These characteristics served Nita well throughout her life.
Nita married Harry E. Turvey on June 5, 1954 in the First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. She and Harry lived in Fort Worth, and Lyndon, Kansas and had lived in Topeka since 1965. He survives. Other survivors include children, Blinda (Kelley) Bowin of Osage City, Kansas, Cindy (Lonny) Wagner of Topeka, four grandchildren whom she was very devoted to, nine great-grandchildren, and her siblings, Dorothy Crawford and Sue Hampton.
Nita was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Hadley Selman and her siblings, Patsy May Gwin, Elizabeth Freund and Charles Cates.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2024 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
