Scott R. Rice, 53, of Berryton, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. He was born September 20, 1970 in Topeka, the son of Howard R. and Elizabeth M. (Joyce) Rice.

Scott graduated from Burlingame High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Health Promotion from Emporia State University. He was employed by USD 501. He was also a self-employed Personal Fitness Trainer. Scott was an avid KU and Chiefs fan. Some of his best memories were made at Lake Perry where he was known as “Captain” of his own boat.

Scott married Kim A. Baker on July 24, 1999 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Loren Rice of Topeka, his father, Howard R. Rice of Burlingame, and three siblings, Melissa (Dennis) Poor of Topeka, Gigi (Daryl) Strohm of Osage City and Rachel (Shawn) Johnson of Pomona.

A Celebration of Scott’s Life will be held from 5:30 pm to 9:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2024 at Lake Shawnee Shelter House No. 3. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the NE Kansas Parkinson Association, PO Box 67342, Topeka, Kansas 66667.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
