Larry Walter Davin, 81, of Topeka, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024.

He was born July 18, 1942, in Onaga, Kansas, the son of Lester Floyd and Ida Myrtle (Beach) Davin. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1960.

Larry was an electrical contractor, founding Davin Electric in 1967. He retired in 1997, and continued independently as LD Electric until 2018.

Larry was a member of the Shawnee Heights Baptist Church. He established and led the Awana program with his wife Melva for 25 years.

Larry married Melva Ann Milne on November 20, 1960; she preceded him in death on June 15, 1990. He then married Betty J. Daugherty on December 28, 1990. She survives, along with his children Roger Davin (Wanda) of Panama City Beach, FL, Tom Davin (Robin) of Kansas City, KS, Pam Kirkwood (George) of Overland Park, KS, Gayle Hutsell (Jeff) of Louisburg, KS, Joleen Rector (Jay) of Topeka, KS and Jody Thomas of Topeka, KS; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings Carol Thompson, Jolene Gleason (Roger), Julie Wilhelm, Jan Conley (Jr.) and Randy Davin (Diane); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Melva Ann Milne; his parents Lester Floyd Davin and Ida Myrtle Beach; sister Joye Brees; brother Lester “LJ” Davin; granddaughter Jennifer Rector; parents-in-law Chester and Madge Milne and Jim and Donna Daugherty; brothers-in-law Donald Brees and Robert Wilhelm; and nephew Douglas Brees.

Larry enjoyed camping, gardening, and vacations with family and friends. He loved teaching many family members and others the electrical trade.

A celebration of life will be held at noon on Saturday, February 17th at the Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka. The family will receive friends for an hour before the service. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Berryton. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
