Leon J. Ellis, 97, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. He was born April 1, 1926 in Hanover, Kansas, the son of William H. and Georgia F. (Wickham) Ellis.

Leon graduated from Hanover High School. He was employed as an Electrician for the Santa Fe Railroad for 35 years before retiring on June 15, 1987. He served as an Elder at the Highland Park Church of Christ and later attended Quivira Heights Church of Christ and California Acres Church of Christ.

Leon married Jean A. Clark on September 18, 1944 in Washington, Kansas. She preceded him in death on March 15, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, William Ellis, Carl Ellis, Thomas H. Ellis, and Juanita P. Brouhard.

Survivors include children, Patty (Fred) White, Kenneth Ellis, two grandchildren, Kimberly (Scott) and Richard (Darlene) and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Kaylee.

A Celebration of Leon's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the Mount Hope Cemetery and Funeral Chapel where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Inurnment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery.
