Peggy Jeanette Ollek Roberts, 85, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

Peggy was born December 13, 1938 at Hillsboro, Kansas, the daughter of Richard E. Ollek and Rosy E. Weinbrenner Ollek. She lived most of her early years in Lehigh, Kansas where she graduated from high school. Peggy was a 1960 graduate of Jane C. Stormont School of Nursing in Topeka, and worked for many years in the hospitals in Topeka, California and Illinois. She was joined in marriage to Paul W. Roberts, February 15, 1959 in Hillsboro, Kansas. Peggy was baptized, confirmed and married in Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, Kansas, and remained faithful in her belief through-out her life.

A son, Kevin David and a brother, Richard Ollek preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband Paul of 65 years, three sons and their wives, Kim D. Roberts and Leah, Wichita, Kansas, Kelly D. Roberts and Julie, Myrtle Beach, S. Carolina, Kyle D. Roberts and Michele, Lawrence, Kansas and a daughter Krista D. Newell and her husband David, Olathe, Kansas, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a sister-in-law Barbara Ollek, Wichita, Kansas.

Peggy enjoyed her years of nursing and especially those years on the surgical floor at Memorial Hospital. She loved the challenge of the variety of conditions that each patient brought. Peggy loved her family and having them all together for dinners and holidays. She loved to cook for the family and friends. She took great joy in going to garage sales looking for specific things for family members. Peggy enjoyed Tuesday mornings having breakfast with her Santa Fe friends, a group that started over 20 years ago. She enjoyed having friends over to play cards and other games (many that she & Paul learned while wintering in Texas).

After retirement, she and Paul spent many years wintering in Texas where she enjoyed their trips to Progreso, Mexico for shopping and eating. She made many new friends during those years. They later wintered in Las Vegas where she loved finding the best buffets. She spent many hours sitting in the stand (or chair) watching children and grandchildren playing sports, from the time she had the baby wrapped up at a track meet on a cold spring afternoon or the time she was wrapped in a blanket until midnight for a grandson’s baseball game. But she loved them all.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, Kansas. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday following the service at the Gard Cemetery near Hillsboro, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
