Marquis Lee Brown, 83, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

He was born February 11, 1941, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Jacob Lester and Gladys Margaret (Moore) Brown. He graduated from West High School.

Marquis was employed by the Blue Springs School District as a cafeteria worker for many years. After retirement he worked for Equiventure Farms.

Survivors include his sisters Celestine Griggs of Realto, CA and Michele Baskerville of San Bernardino, CA. Marquis is preceded in death by in his parents and siblings Rose Brewer, Marly's Austin and LaVern Brown.

Marquis loved driving around and socializing with people. He enjoyed dancing, music and helping others – including caring for animals. He liked to watch soap operas and game shows.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 29th at the Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka. Cremation will follow the ceremony. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
