Sanford "Sandy" Baum Bass, 85, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

He was born May 4, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of William Augustus Jr. and Pearl Estelle (Melson) Bass. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1956, received a bachelor’s degree in Business from University of Maryland and an MBA from Baker University. He served in the Army from 1958 to 1961.

Sandy was employed by the USPS for 16 years, retiring in 2005, and was a member of the District Deputy Grand Master of the Kansas Freemasons in Topeka, KS from 2017-2019.

Sandy married Claudia Jean Dyer on July 6, 1963 in Hyattsville, MD. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2021. Survivors include his sons, Brian Bass of Fort Collins, CO, Ken Bass of Topeka, KS, and Dan Bass of Roeland Park, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Claudia Jean Bass.

Sandy enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golf, travel, genealogy, and was a devoted provider for his family.

Sandy was cremated, and a celebration of life memorial will be scheduled at a future date.
