Michael R. Cooper, 60, of Topeka, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born March 16, 1963 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Odell Lee and Ora Lee (Cooper) Brown.

Michael attended St. Louis public schools. He was employed handyman and the lawn care business. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, New Jerusalem Baptist Church in St. Louis and New Hope Community Baptist Church in Topeka.

Michael married Ella Louise Mitchell on November 11, 1993 in Bellview, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Hannah Maria Mitchell of St. Louis, siblings, Carrie M. Wright of Topeka, Fulton E. Hawkins of Topeka, Stanley R. Hawkins of Topeka, Rickey Cooper of St. Louis and Doris M. Griggs of Topeka and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his siblings, Larry Cooper, Norma Jean Cooper and Joe Nathan Griggs.

A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2024 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to New Hope Community Baptist Church, 436 SE Fairfax St., Topeka, Kansas 66607.
