Jean Ary Parsons, 78, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024.

She was born April 6, 1945, in McComb, Mississippi, the daughter of Oswald “Asro” and Mary Ruby (Felton) Cameron. She graduated from high school and then college, receiving a degree as a licensed practical nurse.

Jean spent her nursing career in hospitals and nursing homes in the Washington D.C. and Capital Heights, Maryland area.

Ms. Parsons attended the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church when visiting Topeka. She was very fancy and was always well groomed and had her hair done in the Shirley Temple curls.

Jean married Walter Parsons in 1977, they divorced July 1992.

Survivors include siblings, Willie Jean Thomas, Dorothy Tyson, Charles Cameron, Lee Edward Cameron, Teresa Owens and Terry Owens; and a host of other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Cameron, Asro Cameron, Jr., James Cameron, Lonnie Butler, Silas Bailey; sisters, Patricia Butler, Elizabeth Carter, Mary Coleman and Alvina Tina Monroe.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, April 19, 2024, a visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Dove Cremations & Funerals ~ Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, Kansas, 66610. Interment will follow at Topeka Cemetery.
