Karolyn Louise “Karol” Murray, 84, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
She was born December 27, 1939, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Lewis B. and Anna Lee (Souther) Anderson.
Karolyn was a Day Care Provider for many years and was later employed by Security Benefit Insurance Company in Topeka for 22 years until retiring.
She was a member of St. Mark's African Methodist Episcopal Church in Topeka and Life Member of the Optimist International and Sunset Optimist Club in Topeka.
Karolyn married James E. Murray on December 17, 1958 in Topeka. He survives in Topeka, KS. Other survivors include three children, Lisa Sexton of Topeka, KS, Kristie Carter of Topeka, KS and Dorcella Reese of Copperas Cove, TX; a sister, Anne Bender of Denver, CO; two brothers, William Tadlock of Denver, CO and Adrian Tadlock (Paula) of Oberland, KS; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Gladys Perrin.
Karolyn loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, bowling, serving on many bowling leagues, and traveling.
Honoring her request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024 at St. Mark's African Methodist Episcopal Church, 801 NW Harrison St, Topeka, KS 66608. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southeast Chapel in Topeka assisting the family.
