Leola Louise Passow, 102 years, 11 months, and 16 days of Topeka, Kansas was called home to her Heavenly Father on Monday, April 1, 2024.

Leola was born on April 16, 1921, in Orlando, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of ten children born to Daniel and Maude Worcester Smith. On January 23, 1938, Leola married Victor Passow in Perry, Oklahoma. In 1945, they moved to a farm north of Americus, Kansas with their two children Joan and Richard. Leola worked at Saint Mary’s Hospital and Hallmark Cards while living in Lyon County.

In 1980, Leola and Victor built a home on the southeast side of Lake Shawnee, Topeka, Kansas where she had lived for the past 44 years. Leola was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church in Topeka. Her specialty with the church was her involvement with preparation and serving delicious meals including the Chicken Noodle Dinners with homemade noodles. Leola transferred to Christ Lutheran Church when Hope closed. Family meant everything to Leola and she shared her culinary talents with wonderful family dinners. Leola was also an accomplished quilter and made beautiful quilts which she lovingly gifted to all her family. Leola celebrated her 100th birthday with a grand celebration with family and friends in April, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings, Lottie, Ruby, William, Nettie, Mae, Clarence, Daniel, Pearl and Edward; her husband Victor, children Joan Jackson and Richard Passow, daughter-in-law Kansa Passow, and granddaughter Deborah Jackson. She is survived by her son-in-law, Montie Jackson, grandchildren Daniel (Cindy) Jackson, Larry Jackson, Linda (Greg) Schuetz, Brad Passow and Ryan (Genie) Passow. She will be deeply missed by her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Leola’s life will be celebrated on Monday, April 15th, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 3509 Burlingame Road, Topeka, Kansas 66611 where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Ave, Topeka, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Christ Lutheran Church.

Leola always reminded her family, “I have lived a wonderful life, I have never been hungry, always had a home and have been surrounded by my family and friends, so when the Good Lord comes to take me, I am ready to go.” We wish that peace of understanding for everyone.
