Betty Ann Ingenthron, 91, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. She was born December 12, 1932 in Frankfort, Kansas, the daughter of Kenneth and Lillian (Rosedahl) Blackney.

Betty Ann grew up on a farm south of Frankfort. While growing up, Betty Ann had chores of milking cows and would walk to school or sometimes ride her horse to school which was many miles away.

After graduating high school, Betty Ann went to Kansas City to a business college. After business school, she got a job with TWA Airlines in the accounting office.

Later, Betty Ann married Lew Jones, her high school sweetheart. They moved to Fort Benning, Georgia while Lew was in the Army. After Lew left the Army, they moved to Meriden, KS where they began to farm. Lew and Betty Ann later divorced.

Betty Ann went to work for the State of Kansas Controllers Office. From 1972-1973, she was the secretary for Governor Docking. She left the Governor’s office to become the Administrative Assistive for the Clerk of the Supreme Court. She retired from there in 1996.

Betty Ann was awarded the Kentucky Colonel Award for many consecutive years.

Betty Ann married Harold H. Ingenthron on November 16, 1967 in Meriden. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her step-daughter, Connie Enoch.

Survivors include children, Terry (Ann) Jones of Escondido, California, Tim (Bernadine) Jones of Murrieta, California, Steve Jones of Topeka, step-son, Larry (LaVonne) Ingenthron of Fremont, California, six grandchildren, Mackenzie, Zack, Beau, Nick, Kenny and Mary and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024 Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Gentiva Hospice, 5375 SW 7th St., #500, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
