John Lacy Roy Stewart, 83, of Topeka, went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 20, 2024. He was born April 24, 1941 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, the son of John Willie and Emma Lee (Betton) Stewart.

John graduated from Marian High School in Brinkley, Arkansas. He was employed by Hydro-Tool and Essex Wire in Topeka for many years. He was a dedicated custodian for Topeka Smiles which he enjoyed doing very much.

John was a loving father and friend. He was no stranger to Topeka and supported the community in any way he could. John loved spending time with his family. He was a very proud Grandpa and attended all of his grandchildren’s sporting events.

John is survived by his wife of many years, Gloria K. Staden. Other survivors include children, Michele (Cecil) Townes, Wesley Stewart, Sylvia Stewart, Lacey (Ricardo) Stewart, all of Topeka, Jason (Karissa) Stewart of Aurora, Colorado, Alissa Harris Hendry of Hampton, Virginia, Jackie Kayhill of Topeka, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

John was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela K. "Annie" Hall and his granddaughter, Jaeden Stewart. Also preceding him in death are his siblings, George Stewart and Darnetha Ellison.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2024 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. The family will also receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.
