Marcia M. Terry, 78, of Topeka, Kansas passed away on Tuesday evening, June 11, 2024, after an extended battle with cancer. She was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska on June 14, 1945 to George and Marie Ruenholl Biere, the youngest of four children and only daughter. Marcia was raised on the family farm in Otoe County. She attended college at the University of Nebraska, graduating with a degree in Medical Technology. She was married to Fred E. Terry on July 1, 1967 in Nebraska City. She began working at Santa Fe Hospital, which later became Memorial Hospital, followed by many years of service at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, all in Topeka. She worked in healthcare all her professional life before retiring in 2011.
She loved the outdoors while working in her yard, landscaping and gardening. She also enjoyed playing the piano and the organ at church in her youth. Marcia’s favorite pastime was being with her grandchildren, along with cooking and baking. She was a lifetime member of Tri Delta sorority and an avid Jayhawk fan.
She is survived by her husband Fred E. Terry of Topeka; children, Chris Lichauer and husband Jim of Lawrence, Kansas and Nathan Terry and wife Rebecca of Shawnee, Kansas; grandchildren, Grant, Levi and Grace Lichauer, Jack Terry and Samantha Thomas; great-grandchild Avery Thomas; brothers, Dean Biere (Carol) of Dunbar, Nebraska and Arlo Biere (Diane) of Manhattan, Kansas.
Marcia was preceded in death by her brother, Norman Biere and her parents George and Marie Biere.
A celebration of Marcia’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Dove Southwest Chapel in Topeka, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka KS 66610, followed by a reception from 3:00-5:00 pm at the same location. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the LMH Health Foundation. www.dovetopeka.com
