Rodolfo L. “Rudy” Basaldua, 73, of Topeka, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024.

He was born August 1, 1950, in Poteet, Texas, the son of Julian L. and Michela L. (Leal) Basaldua, Sr. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, TX. He served in the United States Army until being honorably discharged in 1977.

Rudy was employed by the UCB Films later known as Fuatmura Films, retiring in 2017.

Rudy married Vicki Lynn Nelson on April 26, 1975 in Topeka, KS. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include his son, Matthew J. Basaldua of Topeka; his daughter, Renee L. (Mariah) Douglas of Topeka; four grandchildren, Brianna and Nadia Douglas, Nathan and Adrian Basaldua; and his brother, Julian (Alicia) Basaldua, Jr. of San Antonio, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Rosie Levine and Mary Helen Borrego.

Rudy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, they were the apple of his eye. He enjoyed fishing, family vacations to Port Aransas, TX, and watching sports. He especially loved cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and K-State Wildcats.

Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A celebration of life ceremony will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2024, at the Dove Cremations & Funerals, Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave, Topeka.
