Edith Estella Cross, 98, died peacefully July 22 at Westwood Manor. Edith was born March 19, 1912, in Troy, KS, to Charles Irvin and Jessie Vinsonhaler. She attended Winfield High School, and was a magna cum laude graduate of Southwestern College in Winfield. She taught English and foreign languages for two years at Council Grove High School before marriage to Guy Cross and subsequent move to Topeka. Edith was a 50-year member of P.E.O. Chapter EP and a longtime member of Central Congregational Church. Edith is preceded in death by her husband, Guy; sister Betty Messing of Oysterville, WA; and brother C.I. Vinsonhaler of Bellevue, WA. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Green, of Tucson, AZ; and brother Richard Vinsonhaler and his wife, Thelma, of Lenexa. There will be a private inurnment at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
